Rimini 1944

SATB a cappella
This piece was commissioned by Chronos Vocal Ensemble, Jordan Van Biert conductor. The sample recording here can be found on “the simplest way” by Chronos Vocal Ensemble. Available at Chronos Vocal Ensemble

The poem was written by an unknown Canadian soldier during wartime 1944 in Rimini Italy. There is a wealth of information at wartimecanada.ca.  The poem describes the enlightenment of a soldier during battle. The music has some challenges both rhymically and harmonically for the choir. The passion of the lyrics is married well to the music and has been very well received and appreciated by audiences in performances.
