The Bluenose is a wonderful song by Stan Rogers. Considered by many to be one of his signature songs. I was asked by Dr Douglas Armstrong to arrange this piece. Doug and his wife Mary are like my second set of parents. Doug is a retired family physician who worked tirelessly throughout his career to care for his patients in both routine medicine (is there such thing as ‘routine’ medicine?) and pioneering work. Doug is admired by his patients and colleagues alike. He has been a life-long mentor to me. Doug asked me to write an arrangement of the Bluenose for the Edmonton Swiss Men’s Choir (of which he is a valued member).
