SATB a cappella w/Soprano Saxophone solo
From the Mass for Four Voices of William Byrd, this setting of the Kyrie is for SATB choir and solo soprano saxophone. I didn’t really arrange anything here, I just wrote a few fermata points in the original score allowing spots for the saxophonist to improvise over the existing chords. Additionally I added a repeated building section where the choir accompanies the saxophone. This leads to a pseudo cadenza and then back to the original four part Kyrie to end. The recording here is Pro Coro Canada in live performance with PJ Perry. PJ was kind to allow me to transcribe his solo, which can be used as written for performance or as a guide to improvised performance. A separate part for saxophone is available.
